How does Shopify behavior personalization work?
Recommendations choose products. Product customization lets a shopper configure one product. Rule-based serving selects an approved page variant when explicit conditions match.
100 Rocks provides rule-based serving, not product recommendations or shopper-controlled customization. It uses allow-listed aggregate metrics and does not infer personas.
Choose one Shopify behavior to act on
Rules can use click frequency, pointer idle ratio, pointer micro-reversals, hesitation frequency, hesitation time share, scroll metrics, and named dayparts.
These are aggregate session metrics. Rules cannot use ingredient interactions, element-specific click counts, or other selectors tied to named page content.
Keep each numeric range readable. Do not combine unrelated signals into a hidden score or label shoppers with invented identities.
- Click frequency within a numeric range
- Pointer idle or micro-reversal metrics
- Hesitation frequency or time share
- Scroll metrics or a named daypart
- One approved variant for a matching rule
Set Shopify audience boundaries
Audience matching applies only when a journey begins outside a product page and Preferences consent is granted. Otherwise, 100 Rocks uses its deterministic all-traffic route.
The audience editor defines the rule. The Serving canvas connects an approved variant to that rule. Neither step asks the merchant to choose an alternate or default variant.
| Part | What to require |
|---|---|
| Journey | A start outside the product page |
| Consent | Preferences consent is granted |
| Metric | An allow-listed aggregate value |
| Rule | An explainable numeric range or daypart |
| Variant | An accurate approved version |
Review the Shopify audience response
Serving reports product-page views since the variant assignment. Commerce results remain in separate analytics and should not be presented as part of the serving count.
Audience views are descriptive. They do not prove that rule-based serving caused a commerce change, even when separate analytics show a different rate.
- Check that the rule matches the intended range.
- Confirm the assigned variant is approved.
- Review product-page views since assignment.
- Read commerce analytics separately.
- Watch product accuracy and page errors.
- Revise or deactivate unhelpful rules.

Respect Shopify Customer Privacy consent
100 Rocks requires Preferences consent for audience matching. A direct product-page journey or missing consent follows the deterministic all-traffic route instead.
Personalization and A/B testing remain separate. Test approved variants with measurement-eligible traffic, then assign a suitable approved variant to an explainable audience rule.
