Connect audiences to product-page variants

Use Serving to connect one active audience to one approved variant and review measured product-page views for that assignment.

What does Serving do?

Serving connects active audiences to approved product-page variants. The left lane shows audiences. The right lane shows variants that are approved or frozen for live use.

Each audience can have one current variant assignment. One variant can be used by more than one audience.

What must be ready before I create an assignment?

Without an active audience and an approved variant, the canvas shows Nothing to serve yet.

  1. Enable and verify the Shopify theme app embed.
  2. Add the PDP Container block to the published product template.
  3. Review and approve at least one product-page variant.
  4. Create and activate at least one audience.
  5. Confirm that you have permission to manage audiences.

How do I connect an audience to a variant?

Connecting the same audience to another variant replaces its current assignment. You do not need to add another theme block.

  1. Open your project, then Serving.
  2. Find the audience in the left lane.
  3. Drag a connection from the audience to the approved variant in the right lane.
  4. Wait for the saved confirmation.
  5. Reload a live product page after Preferences consent to verify the assignment.

How do I change or remove an assignment?

Reconnect the audience edge to a different approved variant to change it. Select and delete the edge to remove the assignment.

The canvas rolls back a failed save and shows an error. Confirm the saved state before testing the storefront.

What do the product-page view totals mean?

An assigned audience shows cumulative measured product-page views for its current assignment. The count starts at zero when the assignment is created.

Changing or removing the assignment resets the visible reporting window. The total can update after analytics rollups process new views.

What does the shopper see when no audience matches?

Audience matching requires Preferences consent and every metric used by the audience. Missing consent or context fails closed.

When no assignment matches, the product page uses the deterministic baseline or all-traffic route. It does not choose a random audience variant.

If an expected variant does not appear, follow Troubleshooting.
